Aloo Mutton Kasha [Authentic Bengali Dish]
Introduction: Kasha Mangsho is a signature Bengali Mutton thick curry dish. Apart from Kasha Mangsho, Kochi Panthar Jhol is an equally unique Bengali Mutton dish.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg mutton cut into medium size
- 2-3 big size potato cut into 2 parts
- 4 tbsp grated raw papaya
- 2 tbsp each ginger-garlic paste
- 2 big size onion finely chopped
- 1-1/2 tsp each cumin -coriander powder
- 1 tsp each red chilli -turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 2 tbsp each lime juice -yogurt
- 1 bay leaf, 3-4 pieces of each green cardamom, cinnamon stick and cloves
- Salt and sugar as per taste
- 1 hand full chopped cilantro
- 4 tbsp mustard oil
- 3-4 tbsp ghee
Clean and wash the mutton carefully and marinate
with 1 tbsp salt and lime juice for 15 mins .
After that marinate the mutton with raw papaya
and yogurt for 15 mins again.
Then heat the mustard oil and ghee in a pressure
pan and fry the potatoes until light golden .Take out
the fried potatoes in a bowl.
And then add bay leaf and whole garam masala in
that remaining oil and ghee. When they stop
crackling then add chopped onion and fry until light
golden on medium flame.

Then add ginger-garlic paste, fried potatoes and
marinated mutton.
And stir for 5-7 mins on low flame until the
ghee comes over the mutton.
After that add all powder masalas, salt and sugar.
Now add 1 tsp garam masala powder, 1/2 cup of
lukewarm water and mix well for 5-6 mins or till
oil comes over the mutton .
Then add 2 cup of lukewarm water and cover the
pressure cooker with lid for 4-5 whistle on high flame.
Now add fresh chopped cilantro on the curry and mix well.
Now ready to serve Aloo Mutton Kasha with hot Rice,
Rumali roti, Tandoori roti, and Paratha.
